From March to May, Auckland played host to The Haier Big Hoot, an art trail featuring 47 uniquely decorated, supersized owls to raise funds for Child Cancer Foundation.
We were proud to get behind this great initiative and do our bit to support Kiwi families affected by child cancer.
As well as sponsoring ‘Athena of Aotearoa’, our very own owl painted by artist Anna Leyland, we sponsored the official ‘farew-owl’ for the owls at the Aotea Centre on the weekend of 25-27 May.
Over 5,000 people came along to see all 47 owls and enjoyed lots of fun activities including balloon bending, face painting and a photo wall – all with an owl theme of course!
It was also the perfect opportunity to present a cheque to Child Cancer Foundation on behalf of our adviser partners, who donated an amazing $10,000.
The final act was an auction on 29 May, which saw all 47 owls go under the hammer to raise more than $382,000 for Child Cancer Foundation. All funds raised by The Haier Big Hoot will help provide ongoing support to the 1,700 families across New Zealand who are affected by child cancer, covering everything from counselling and groceries, to travel to hospital expenses.
